WHO WE ARE
Our Mission
The Medical Relief Group Canada (MRGCA) is a volunteer Canadian initiative funded by the generosity of donors. This initiative seeks to provide humanitarian assistance with the aid of NGO partners through distribution of trusted medical aid to underserved hospitals and clinics of Lebanon. The medical aid is intended to be offered free of charge to end users.
Our Vision
To improve the health and quality of life for the people of Lebanon by increasing their access to high quality essential medical aid. As an organization, we aim to grow and evolve in order to meet current and future needs to support our communities in Lebanon.
Medical Relief Initiatives – How it all begaN
A pilot program was successfully completed in March 2021. This project consisted of purchasing, shipping and distributing Acetamenophin (Tylenol) to hospitals and medical clinics in the mountain area: Ain Wazein, Aljabal, El Irfan, Al Iman, Beit El Yateem El Durzi, and Jameyat al Tajazor Fee al Ard.
In addition, four boxes of assorted medication (~2,400 prescriptions) was sent to Rashaya Hospital in Lebanon. Kits were distributed through the Social Assistance Clinic at the hospital to different places and local health centres.
How We Work
In canada
We established a process on how to source medication in Canada, obtain permits from the Lebanese Ministry of Health to import medication, ship the medication, clear them through customs, and distribute them locally.
In LEBANON
We have captured and created a major list of hospitals and local clinics and established contacts with them; learned about their immediate and critical needs; and established a group of local volunteers for distribution and oversight.
